Daybreak FizzFest ’17

Have you ever discovered a spot you just knew was made for you?

For me, that place is Daybreak.

My family and I moved to Daybreak, Utah, from Washington, D.C. last Thanksgiving.

Needless to say, I knew immediately that this was the place for us. It is bursting with color, and its family oriented atmosphere makes it the perfect neighborhood to raise our little boy.

The best part of Daybreak is that they foster a real sense of community by throwing event after event after event -- especially in the summer.

Summers are marked by weekly double-feature concerts at SoDa (Southern Daybreak) Row, monthly antique car shows, 5k races through the neighborhoods, and numerous events marking holidays and special occasions.

There's even a Ladybug Festival!

Well, one of our favorite events of the season was the annual FizzFest.

What's charming about the name of this festival is that it takes place on SoDa Row. (Get it? Soda? Fizz?? Genius.)

This year's FizzFest theme was "Superheroes", and boy did they pull out all the stops. LiveDaybreak had Captain America, Lego Batman, and Black Panther (which we'd never heard of, but rightly scared the bejeezus out of our son), to name a few.

They each graciously played with all of the kids, and Black Panther even got down to the Cupid Shuffle with one of the vendors. It was seriously adorable.

In addition to the superheroes, SoDa Row shops held special sales for the event, food trucks lined the venue space, vendors offered giveaways and special discounts to Daybreak residents, and LiveDaybreak even gave out cool summer tumblers to attendees.

It seriously made us feel so fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful, colorful community.

My favorite part of the evening was discovering the delicious chicken from the Cluck Truck. This stuff was clucking AMAZING.

Meanwhile, my son enjoyed soaking himself on the SoDa Row splash pad. I'm pretty sure he thought he was a pirate captain because he came home yelling, "Arghhh!"

At the end of the night, we even happened upon photog friend and creative genius Lizzyography while there! She shoots all of Daybreak's photos, so make sure you look for her FizzFest album!

Overall, we had a fizzing good time, and can't wait to do it all over again next year!

Come join the next Daybreak event! You can find more information at www.livedaybreak.com under Happenings. We'll see you there!
